DOWELLZYM ALE

Acid protease

Chemical & Physical Data:

Appearance:     Beige to yellowish brown powder

pH (1%):           5.0~8.0

Properties:

lDOWELLZYM ALE can be applied for bating of hides and skins (bating after normal bating) or for bating of pickled pelts, wet blues and the vegetable tanned crust and chrome leather crusts.

lDOWELLZYM ALE opens up the fiber structure gently and improves softness, fullness and other leather properties, without looseness in the belly.

lDOWELLZYM ALE can remove wrinkles, improve the flat fineness of grain and increase the area yield of leather.

lDOWELLZYM ALE can improve the handle property and dyeing uniformity of leather.

Application:

lDOWELLZYM ALE can be used for bating of pickled pelts, wet blues and re-tanned crust by adding directly without dissolving in water, the bating pH should be adjusted at the range of 3.0-5.0.

A) Multiple bating

lAfter the normal bating process, DOWELLZYM ALE can be used in the pickled float as a supplementary bating process. Add DOWELLZYM ALE together with common salt at the beginning of pickling and run 10-20minutes, then adjust the pH to 3.0-5.0 with formic acid and control the float temperature in the range of 24-26°C (should not exceed 28°C).

lAfter acid bating is completed add more acid to lower the pH and run until the desired pH is achieved prior to the addition of Chrome tanning.

B) On pickled pelts

lPickled pelts that have not been bated enough in the previous processes could be re-treated with DOWELLZYM ALE. It can help to open up the fibre structure further and reduce or eliminate the wrinkles, creases & folds created during the storage.

lAdd pickled pelts into a float at 6-7°Be of common salt, and adjust pH to 3.0-5.0 with sodium bicarbonate. Then add DOWELLZYM ALE and run until the desired effect is achieved. After the bating treatment, add acid to lower the pH of the float to a level required for the chrome tannage.

C) On wet blues or crusts

lDOWELLZYM ALE can also be applied on wet blues or crusts to get further improvement in wetting, softness, fullness and remove wrinkles etc. Before the addition of DOWELLZYM ALE, it is better to rinse and wash the wet blues or crusts thoroughly. The pH of the wet blues or crust is adjusted to 3.0-5.0, and temperature is controlled at 45°C (in common case, the activity increase with temperature). Add 1.0%-3.0% DOWELLZYM ALE directly into the drum and run for 1-2 hours, then set the drum to run on a timer automatically for a total treatment time of 3-24 hours. DOWELLZYM ALE can be applied directly in powder form (if it is diluted, add immediately to avoid drop in enzyme activity), if other chemical required to be added, they should be added after 30 minutes running with DOWELLZYM ALE to avoid the affect from high concentration of chemicals.
